| HAPPY NEW YEAR 2010!
Dear Members,
Recently many members were the recipient of a questionable e-mail
that indicated the sender was a member from QAAP. This e-mail
was in fact sent by a hacker who gained control of QAAP's hotmail
account. As a result of this fraudulent activity some members
may have questioned whether this e-mail was real or not. Let us
assure you that under no circumstances will the QAAP executive
committee ever make any requests of its members or send an e-mail
that is not professionally related.
We thank you for patience and understanding during this challenging
period. Please rest assured that the situation has since been
dealt with.
Sincerely,
QAAP Executive
JOB POSTINGS
Please be advised that we will no longer be doing mass e-mailing
of job postings. Be assured that Sam Barile your PR Coordinator
will continue to search for interesting and possible jobs for
our members and will continue posting them on the member’s
zone within our web-site as we have always done. The only change
is that you will no longer receive them via e-mail. The job postings
will be updated bi-weekly so be sure to regularly enter into the
members zone of this website.
We do however encourage you to continue sending us your own job
postings to qaaprequests@hotmail.com.
These individual messages will be forwarded to membership, and
also be included in our members zone. It is a free and beneficial
service for your worksites to find qualified workers.

Mission
QAAP is committed to providing a forum, which will facilitate communication
and networking, as well as support the establishment of standards of
practice for individuals in the activity/recreation/leisure profession.
This in essence will promote the advancement of quality programming
for all the population we serve. QAAP will also strive to raise awareness
of the profession through promotion and advocacy of recreation and leisure
and its therapeutic benefits.
How is QAAP Funded?
QAAP is primarily funded through membership fees. These fees help cover
the operating costs of QAAP. Monies collected are used for the following;
post office box rental, government registration fees, newsletter production,
stationary supplies, etc. The treasurer is responsible for keeping
an up to date account of all receipts and expenditures, which is included
in the annual report.
In search of
guest speakers.
Do you know a guest speaker who would
be willing to share their expertise with our members at one of the QAAP-AQPL
general
meetings? Or are you yourself interested in presenting? We
are continually looking for individuals who would be willing to educate
our members on subjects related to the following:
• recreation ex. benefits, profession, etc.
• assessment, ex. forms, updates, relevance, etc.
• activity ideas, stimulation, techniques
• disability
• disease ex. Arthritis, ADHD, MS, AD, etc.
• disease prevention
• alternative therapies
• creative arts (i.e. music, dance, art therapy)
• adapted exercise, sport, equipment
• certification and standards of practice
• wellness
• community resources
• services for caregivers
• any other related subjects
Speakers will be contacted and booked by the President of QAAP-AQPL. Speaker
sessions are intended to maintain, upgrade, educate, and create awareness
among the members of our association. Speaker sessions will last
approximately 1 hour including a 15 minute question period. Ideally,
speakers will participate on a "volunteer" basis, however
they will be given the opportunity to promote themselves and their
work to our membership. Interested candidates should fill
out this form and submit their candidacy as
a QAAP-AQPL guest speaker! We
encourage you to share your resources and qualifications by enriching
the educational knowledge of all QAAP-AQPL members!
