Benefits
The benefits of annual membership include; invitations to and minutes of meetings,
employment postings, QAAPtion quarterly newsletter, exchange of activity ideas,
participation in hands on teaching sessions, networking opportunities, discounts
for National memberships, support from colleagues in the field, updates on all
TR related information (conferences, certification, national issues, etc.), the
right to vote and hold office and much more.
Our Members?
Our members are a diverse group, representative of a variety of educational
and training backgrounds. These professions include, Therapeutic Recreation,
Community Recreational Leadership Training, Leisure Studies, Special Care
Counselling, Gerontology, etc. Members work in a variety of settings including;
hospitals, CLSC’s, CHSLD’s, day centers, non-profit organizations,
volunteer groups, schools, etc. in both the private and public sectors.
How Often Do
We Meet?
Meetings are held every six (6) weeks rotating at various members’ facilities.
Who is Responsible
for QAAP?
QAAP is a provincially registered association governed by an elected
Executive Committee. Those responsible for these positions include;
President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary, Coordinator of Public
Relations & Communications, and Membership Coordinator.
Membership Fees?
There is an annual Professional membership fee of $40.00 for any individual
actively employed in the field of recreation. An annual fee of $45.00
for Associate Supporting members is charged to anyone not directly employed
in the field of recreation and leisure however supports the mission
of QAAP. Full time Students (minimum 4 courses with I.D. and studying
in a related field) are able to join for a low annual fee of $20.00.
Annual members will receive a yearly membership card. Members and non-members
are invited to attend meetings. |
